PRP therapy is one of the progressive methods of regenerative medicine. The innovative direction of cellular biotechnology, based on the injection of activated autoplasma, is becoming a real alternative to drug treatment.
What is prp-therapy?
The name of the method comes from the English concept "Platelet rich plasma" (platelet-rich plasma). The patient's own blood is used for injections. After centrifugation in a special cell separator and separation of shaped elements, autoplasma is purified, activated and enriched. Due to this, the concentration of platelet growth factors (hormone-like proteins with a wide range of biological effects) increases.
How is prp-therapy carried out?
10-50 ml of blood is taken from a patient from a vein with prp tubes (the amount depends on the severity of the pathological process). After 10 minutes of treatment, platelet-rich plasma is injected with a syringe into the soft tissues surrounding the affected joints or vertebrae, or directly into the articular cavity. Depending on the severity of the problem, 5-7 injections are prescribed, which are given at intervals of 3-5 days.
Preparation for plasma therapy
To obtain the maximum therapeutic effect, a week before the start of PRP therapy, you should stop taking drugs that affect the composition and processes of blood coagulation (anticoagulants, antibiotics, NSAIDs). A few days before the due date, it is recommended to increase your fluid intake, switch to a healthy diet and refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages.
Indications
Plasma therapy has found wide application in the treatment of a wide range of diseases affecting various systems and organs.
Benefit
Thanks to PRP-therapy, stem cells migrate to the damaged area, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects are enhanced, and the rate of cellular aging slows down. When used in combination with other methods of treatment, the recovery period is reduced by 3 times.
The advantage of plasma therapy is the accumulating therapeutic and restorative effect, safety and the absence of allergic reactions.
Plasma therapy in orthopedics
Plasma therapy for joints has a number of positive effects:
- improving blood circulation in the affected area
- reducing the intensity of pain and inflammation
- increased formation of intra-articular fluid
- slowing down destruction, restoration of cartilaginous structure
- normalization of mobility
The combined use of PRP and SVF-therapy, combining the effectiveness of concentrated plasma and stem cell concentrate from the patient's adipose tissue, has proven to be highly effective in the treatment of degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the joints.
Intra-articular injections are prescribed when
- arthrosis of the hip, shoulder, elbow, ankle, knee joints
- osteoarthritis
- osteonecrosis
Plasma therapy in sports medicine
PRP therapy is used in the treatment of fractures, bruises, dislocations, ruptures of ligaments and tendons, injuries to muscles, menisci and patellar cartilage.
Plasma therapy in neurology
Neurologists prescribe PRP injections for spinal hernia, osteochondrosis, muscle spasms, lumbar pain.
Plasma therapy in cosmetology
Plasma therapy for the face is not carried out in the network of CMR clinics.
Contraindications
- pregnancy and lactation
- diabetes
- oncopathology
- skin infections
- autoimmune disorders
- individual intolerance to the PRP drug
